The Plain of Jars is a popular destination for trek tours in Laos. There are several tour companies that offer guided trekking tours to explore the mysterious Plain of Jars. These tours usually begin in the town of Phonsavan, where you can hire a guide and arrange transportation to the Plain of Jars.
The trekking tour typically involves through the countryside and visiting the jar sites 52 more 400 jars, which are scattered throughout the area. The jars are believed to be ancient burial sites, and the trekking tour provides a unique opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the region. The duration of the trekking tour can vary depending on the specific itinerary, but most tours last between one and tow days. Some tours also include visits to nearby villages and cultural attractions in the area.

The Ban Phakeo jar site features nearly 400 jars and many rare stone discs with animal sculptures, and is This is the only jar site with lids. There is also evidence of people using the jars as grinding-whetstones for sharpening knives. Beautiful orchids often bloom in the jars.
Witness Daily Life in a Hmong Mountain Village Life in Ban Phakeo remains mostly the same as it has over the centuries for the Lao Hmong who migrated from China. Witness Ban Phakeo villagers cook your dinner such as duck soup with rice or chicken. In the evening, village women meet at new freshwater taps to do laundry and discuss village news. Stay overnight at the basic village lodge (mats on a wood emporium, pillows, blankets and mosquito nets are provided). Be sure to take some warm clothes for the night as the mountains can get cool.

Testimonials
I spent a fascinating and hugely enjoyable day with Eric touring the Plain of Jars sites 1,2 and 3 and the surrounding area. Eric was knowledgeable, friendly and professional, as he had been since my first enquirey. I really appreciated having a tour that addressed my interests and being able to appreciate the calm and beauty of the jars without lots of people around. Highly recommended.

It’s been my dream to go back to the area that I born, and would not have been possible without the indispensable service from Eric and his tour company. We didn’t know where to start. Eric arranged a driver for us from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, Mr Xiong and his wife, with plans on going to another town during mid morning the next day. However, our circumstances changed (learning that in order to get to our destination, we’d had to leave first thing in the morning and not mid-morning) caused us to change our schedule. Eric’s team graciously made last minute (more…)

We were a family with 2 teenagers that had 2 days to see Vientiane and Vang Vieng. Eric made a perfect tour for us, nice hotel, good service. We did not feel rushed at all, we saw the important thing in Vientiane and than after the long bus drive from Luang Prabang he also took care of us. Refreshments on the road and arrived safe in Vang vieng. It was very hot and he offer a stop by a cave for swimming where we can take a cold shower of course included in the price. We spend a day wishing in Baan Xieng on the river kayaking with them (another company). (more…)

My friend and I took a 6 day road trip and used Eric’s car services. It was fantastic I communicated with Eric via WhatsApp pretty much each day with any changes and he replied each time straight away, which made our trip so easy. We just wanted a driver (no guide) which he arranged. Our driver was great, so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. His English was ok and we managed. I would definitely use Eric and his company again.
Thank you and we had the most amazing Trip in Laos!! Definitely coming back again!!

This was a really great tour – definitely exceeded my expectations! We booked a group tour but wound up getting a private tour. Our driver took us an hour into the mountains on a dirt road to a Hmong village. Then we hiked through the countryside, had lunch with our guide (who was really great – we learned a lot!) and spent the afternoon at the waterfall before getting a ride back to our hotel. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys trekking and wants to see more of the Laotian countryside without going too far from Luang Prabang.
